Acupuncture
In
accordance with ORC 4734.282 chiropractic physicians that have a current, valid
Ohio chiropractic license may apply for a certificate to practice acupuncture.
In general, the same Administrative Rules apply to the practice of acupuncture
as do the practice of chiropractic.
A
chiropractor who holds a certificate to practice acupuncture may represent or
advertise that they are a "chiropractor certified by the state chiropractic
board to practice acupuncture." Unless the chiropractor holds a license issued
under ORC 4762.04, the chiropractor shall not represent or advertise as holding
any of the titles listed in ORC 4762.08.
Not
only may you now practice acupuncture, you are now permitted to refer your patients
to acupuncturists licensed by the State Medical Board. If you choose to refer
a patient to an acupuncturist, you must comply with the supervision requirements
outlined in Ohio Revised Code Section 4762.
If
your chiropractic license is not active or is suspended or revoked, your acupuncture
certificate will likewise be inactivated, suspended or revoked.
